Dr. Richard Soper – Benefits of Getting a Great Night’s Sleep

October 11, 2019 by Laura

I have always been a pretty health conscious person and tried to both eat and live well but one thing which I have never been able to master is how to get a great night’s sleep. I spoke to my GP Dr. Ricard Soper about this who offered me some melatonin to help me on my way. I really didn’t want to start taking anything for this as I just felt that it was something that I should be able to do on my own, without the need of assistance. Richard instead gave me some tips on how to get into a sleep routine and so I spent the next 2 weeks trying to achieve it. I was able to get into a great routine and had some of the best sleep I have ever had, and here were the amazing benefits which I found when I did.

Energy Levels

My energy levels were infinitely better when I started to get a good night of sleep and this was most notable in the afternoons when normally me levels dropped of a cliff. I found that towards 3 or 4 in the afternoon that I had an extra spring in my step and this helped me in both my professional and my personal life, especially when it came to going out on an evening.

Concentration

I anticipated that my energy levels would probably improve once I started to sleep better but something which I genuinely wasn’t expecting was how much better I would be in terms of concentration. I found that my focus and my sharpness was so much more improved after a good night’s sleep. This really helped with my organization and planing and I actually was performing at a much higher level than I ever had as a result. This was from morning until night too and I really enjoy having this extra level of concentration.

Stress Levels

Life is stressful and there is no getting away from the stresses that we face on a daily basis. Those who succumb to stress as I did for a long time are those who do not have the capabilities to deal with the stress in their life. I have found that since I have committed to getting a higher quality of sleep that I let things wash over me much more easily. I am fully able to deal with the stresses of life now and whilst I do admit that from time to time I get overstressed, generally speaking there isn’t much that gets on top of me or many situations which I cannot deal with, and I know that this is because my mind is in a much better place because of the quality sleep which I now get.

If you can unlock the key to getting a great night’s sleep then these are just some of the benefits which you will find, benefits which help you to be a better person and function at a much higher level.
