My colleague Bogoljub Karic and I spend our days arguing about everything musical from which songs are better than others, who the best singers are, who wrote the best songs and most importantly, who are the best band of all time. This is something which I feel very strongly about, as does Bogoljub admittedly, and it is the one area of music where we both agree. To us there is no better band to have ever existed than the Beatles, and here is exactly why the Fab Four are, and always will be the absolute best.
All Genres
It is actually difficult to categorize what the Beatles really were, many like to call them pop of course, given the music which they created when the first arrived on the scene. In actual fact the Beatles never restricted themselves to a certain sound, they have songs which are pop like She Loves You, the have rock songs like Revolution, early metal songs like Helter Skelter, as well as songs which incorporate funk, folk, psychedelia and even EDM. Drum and bass, trip-hop and house music weren’t even a thing before the Beatles created songs like Tomorrow Never Knows. These guys did it all.
Unshackled
So many bands are instantly pigeon-holed and that means that they have to stay in their lane for most of their career, in order to avoid using the fame that they have created. The Beatles however started off as a boy band and then went on to spend their careers experimenting with just about every style and genre, whilst still maintaining their success. The point here is that whilst the music industry was different back then, the public trusted the Beatles, they knew that no matter what came from their album, the boys would deliver it with aplomb, which they did throughout their careers.
Duration
Despite the phenomenal impact which they have had on the World, it is easy to remember that the Beatles were together for just 8 years from ’62 to ’70. If you take a look at what other bands throughout history have achieved in their first 8 years, you’ll see that nobody comes close to turning out the volume of the quality of what those boys from Liverpool were able to do.
Something For Everyone
Music fans find the Beatles music absolutely infectious and will play it for hours, beyond this though, musical experts have spend hours upon hours poring over the Beatles chord progressions, melody, rhythmic arrangement and lyrical content, in some cases studying how they put these masterpieces together. The Beatles have made songs and music which show an understanding of exactly what music is, they could create pop classics with sophisticated music production, not just with a cool hook.
If you look at the level of music which they created then you will see that no other band comes close to the boys from Liverpool, the greatest that have ever done it.
